We were still waiting for Max, wherever she was. I was soooo bored and there was nothing to do. So when he jumped off, it surprised me.

I gasped and my eyes widened. I stood at the edge now, looking to see if he was down there. Fang, being Fang, swooshed up and flew. His wings were stretched out to their full length, and in my opinion, it should always be stretched out, not folded back.

He went up, up up...

He was with the hawks now, following their movements. I still couldn't take my eyes off of them.

They flew beautifully, in a line, like a natural pack would.

When he flew towards me, and I noticed he had a new aura around him. Happiness. Pure joy.

"Come on!" he yelled out. "Try it! You'll fly better." And then, he flew back to the hawks once again. His natural family.

I sighed and shrugged it off as I walked back and then swiftly turned to run off the edge.

I let myself drop down...down...letting go of all the pain that I held in myself.

I opened my eyes and swooped myself up, my now outstretched wings holding me up. It felt good to have them out and not have to worry about anything, specifically Erasers chasing after us or people gawking.

I flew towards him, and when I was close enough, I noticed that his eyes were closed, and he was smiling a bit. I couldn't help but smile myself.

He belonged here...he and the hawks fit together like pieces of a puzzle, pepperoni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly...

In the sky, at all times.

And after thinking about it a bit...I found myself thinking...

I want to be here beside him, always.

A/N: A short drabble which was inspired by that short little scene in which Fang flew off with the hawks and told Nudge to fly as well.

FaNu wasn't exactly a bad idea when Maximum Ride first started out. Well, for me at least. They had their little moments...but then of course Fax dominuated FaNu in the end. I still enjoyed seeing Fang smile with Nudge (:
