| Summary: | /Programmed elasticity only lasts so long./ 55-word drabble. Written for the Fanfiction Flock drabble competition on Maximum-X. |
Disclaimer: I don't own Maximum Ride. I wouldn't want to own it anymore, to be frank. *sigh*
Author's Note: Yep, it's short. Nevertheless, sometimes I think that people focus too much on "omg they haz wings" and not enough on what it's like to be constantly hunted.
Circumstances: The contest stated that the drabble was supposed to contain ten sentences, each with one fewer word than the last.
Acknowledgments: Absatx pointed out that one of the lines contained too many words to satisfy the challenge. Thanks a ton for that.
Every time a bone fractures, it's a little weaker afterward.
Stretch a rubber band too often and it breaks.
Constantly worry a piece of cloth- it unravels.
Why do they think we're the exceptions?
Programmed elasticity only lasts so long.
We begin to fall apart.
Spools of yarn unwind.
Threads give way.
Sanity weakens.
Snap.
